Liam Whelan

Gracie Jiu Jitsu/ Kickboxing

Liam began his training in martial arts at 7 years old, with Tae Kwon Do. After receiving his green belt, he began his kenpo training under Pat Cochrane. At this time, he also began to learn submission grappling under Danny Tobin. Liam received his black belt in Kenpo under Pat Cochrane when he was 19, and it was at this point he decided to further explore martial arts. Starting in 2007, Liam started training kickboxing with the Foley brothers, Jason and Michael Jr, making a successful debut at Shockwave 2007. With his submission grappling experience, learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Michael Foley Jr. and the Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association was a natural fit, eventually earning his blue belt under Professor Luis "Limao" Heredia in 2009.
